Description:

This qualification covers the skills and knowledge required for a draftsperson producing specialist engineering drawings within an engineering design environment. The course will provide a knowledge of the technical and design systems, including CAD, as they pertain to engineering, as well as an understanding of the administrative processes necessary in achieving the desired outcomes for engineering projects.

Career Opportunities:

Engineering drafting personnel are employed in both government and private sector engineering offices. The public sector areas in which engineering drafters gain employment include: Housing, Health and Community Services, and building facilities departments of local, state and federal governments.  They are in high demand by other allied professions like architects, town planners and builders for their expertise.

Requirements:

  • Current Year 10 or 11 student
  • Current/previous experience in metal work/engineering subjects
  • Good level of maths and literacy skills
  • Leadership skills
  • A passion to work in the engineering sector
